Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha Elections 2024: As Phase 1 – Lok Sabha Elections 2024 begins tomorrow, April 19, Friday; Tiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chennai Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharampuri, Tiruvannnamalai, Arani, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Edore, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thankjavur, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, THoothukkudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanniyakumari, will go into polls, with the voting process startingat 8 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m.
The General Elections of 2024, are around the corner and all the national parties have started to strategize their moves for the southernmost state of India, to take advantage in the mega elections. The political scenario of Tamil Nadu is very different from that of the other states of India as the national parties find themselves in tough spots every time the Lok Sabha Elections are contested in the state. However, with 39 seats in account, elections in the Gateway of South India is always a vigorous battleground, as despite the hardship no national party or alliance chooses to count the state out of their list of preferences.

The 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Tamil Nadu is scheduled to finish on the opening day of the polling as all they will open the ballot box for all their seats on April 19, i.e., phase 1.

How many phases Tamil Nadu will have?
The Lok Sabha Elections in Tamil Nadu is known for getting concluded in a very small period of time, but in 2019 elections, ECI decided to take things one step further as the elections on all the seats were held in one single phase, making it the biggest single phase among all the states which is once again the case in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the state is all set to conclude the polling on all their 39 seats in just one phase, i.e., phase 1.

The southernmost state of India, Tamil Nadu ranks fifth in highest number of Lok Sabha seats among states, behind Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Bihar, with 39 seats of its own. Out of the 39 seats, 32 seats are unreserved, while seven seats are reserved for SC candidates. During the 2019 elections, DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance registered a landslide victory by winning 38 of the 39 seats, giving the largest party of the nation only one seat.
