#6 Immersive walks
With Ningaloo Reef on one side and Cape Range National Park on the other, on-foot adventures appeal as much as water activities.
As your Sal Salis guide leads you on agorge walk, learn about the delicate ecosystem, the range’s geological history, and Dreamtime mythology. It’s not uncommon to meet black-footed rock wallabies, red kangaroos, and countless birds and lizards as you explore.
#5 Stargazing
As you might expect in a destination far, far away from bright lights and the trappings of cities and towns, stargazing at Sal Salis is out of this world. Or above this world.
Darkness here affords unrivalled views of the Milky Way. The twinkling lights provide the perfect dinner companion (besides whoever you travelled there with, of course).

#2 Swim with humpbacks
You most certainly won’t be sweating the small stuff when you’re witnessing the majesty of a humpback whale gliding through the water in front of you. Seeing these gentle giants up close is the perspective shift we could all use.
Sal Salis can organise a humpback whale swim from May to October (with availability remaining for 2023), when around 30,000 migrating humpbacks pass through Ningaloo Marine Park! Weighing up to 40,000 kilograms, humpback whales are gentle, playful, and curious. You’ll be curious, too, as you watch them swim, breach, and sing right in front of you!
#1 Whale shark swims
Ningaloo Reef’s most well-known travellersare the whale sharks that migrate here from mid-March to August. To swim with whale sharks is about as bucket list-y as it gets. Ningaloo Reef is one of the only places in the world where whale sharks come in large numbers!
Large numbers mean great odds at not only seeing them but also being able to plunge into the Indian Ocean to swim with them!In peak season, the success rate of seeing a whale shark is 90%.
